New Year, Fresh Start

2017 is here! Can you believe it? It is true what they say, the older you get, the faster time goes. Then, have a baby and time really flies! I can’t believe my Jack is already almost three months! I personally love the idea of a new year and a fresh start.  It is a time for me to reflect on the past year and set goals for the new year to come.  I know resolutions aren’t for everyone. But I like to look at it more as goals; Ways to better myself. I usually make a couple goals and they last a month or two. I really want to try this year to discipline myself to stick to them.  I think one way this can happen is to tell people about them so they can hold me accountable. This year I have a few: get organized, read more, lose weight, get back in my bible more, and BLOG! I really hate to be the cliche of the first three but…. it is what it is.

Get back in the bible: It’s no excuse, but since Jack came along, the daily quiet times aren’t happening like they once were. My mindset is completely different when I am doing good spiritually. I will not be able to reach any of my other goals unless this one is being met first.

Get organized: I am not the most unorganized person… but I also wouldn’t be considered super organized. I am very laid back and go with the flow in my nature and this can be good and bad.  Not being organized is one of the bad ways. When you are as laid back as I am, sometimes things just don’t get done.. or put in their proper place. And over time that creates a lot of clutter. Which I hate. LESS IS MORE! Whether it is our garage, my car, my closet, or my makeup drawer, I want everything to have a proper place. No more throwing things around. Mike and I have started getting things cleaned up and organized with tubs and xoxo containers and we already feel so much better! I also want to be more organized with my relationships. Responding to texts, reading all the way through emails, and not double booking things are a few ways I can improve this. This sounds easy but for me will be a challenge! I don’t want Jack to grow up thinking his mom is a scatterbrained mess, so this one is extremely important to me.

Read more: To be honest, I don’t love to read. I know how narrow minded that sounds. Which is why it is on my list. Smart people read. They just do.  Nothing bad comes from reading.  I want to read more to better myself. And thats that!

Lose Weight:… I hate to put this one on here because I don’t want to be that person, but… I just had a baby, and things just aren’t the same!

BLOG: This one should be the easiest but will be hard. It is hard to get started and put yourself out there. This is something I have wanted to do for years and now is the time!

So there are some of my goals for 2017. If I have a day or two, or even a week when I don’t follow through on all of them, I will not beat myself up, but get back on the horse!

What are your resolutions or goals for 2017?
